Hey guys ,
Welcome back to my blog, today’s post features me wearing a Nigerian brand “House of Irawo” owned by Mrs Abby Ikomi (creative director) and her three lovely daughters Dola, Ama and Anire who hold positions as Strategic marketing Advisor, Financial advisor and Brand consultant respectively.
They have been in business for a little over a year and I’ve spotted them on Instagram for a while but saw them in full swing at Arise Fashion Week, I went over to the store to take a look at what they had ,picked a few pieces for the blog and decided to style it for you guys to see.
House of Irawo had their first fashion show at the just concluded Arise Fashion Week . I fell in love with this hooded top ( its detail , fit and finish is really good )and decided to shoot in it. I paired it with a pair of jeans and a slingback low -heeled Zara shoes.
I would also style this with a pair of palazzo pants and higher heels too. Do you like and how would you style it ?

Last Friday, I was invited to a MasterClass organised by BeautyBar by Essenza to learn about the New Clarins Double Serum, its formulation and packaging. Of course, I was delighted as I am currently using the Double serum, this product was formulated 32 years ago with the aim of reducing fine lines and wrinkles .
The Masterclass was conducted by Ann-Sophie Guerin, the International trainer with Clarins. I have been at her Masterclass before and i have to say she is very relateable and has an indepth knowledge about the product…. I wrote about the first masterclass here Day out with Clarins and i had also reviewed the product here Clarins Skincare Product Haul + Full review .
Unfortunately , I got to the event late as I was just rounding off an interview at the Radio station with one of Nigerias most talented female artist , Niniola who had just debut a new single titled ‘Sicker’ . I was so excited to see other beauty enthusiasts in the class as well.
Thankfully, Ann- Sophie was happy to take me through the class again . So whats new with the Clarins double serum ?
- The very obvious one which is the press button which enables you control how much of the product you need at a time.
- An additional ingredient of turmeric extract. Ann Sophie added that the potent ingredient that aids in cell communication, turmerone boosts the serum’s five vital functions which include hydration, nutrition, oxygenation, protection, and regeneration.
- A setting for normal to dry skin/ cold climates and normal to oily skin/hot climates like we experience most times.
The Clarins double Serum comes in 2 sizes and retails for 40,500 for 30ml and 49,500 for the 50ml bottle and its available at all Essenza stores nationwide , they are on Instagram @beautybar_essenza

I don’t do fashion. I am fashion – Coco Chanel
Your style defines you.
It’s easy to dismiss the idea of having a personal style. You
may consider looking clean or looking the part as good
enough. Is it?
A while back, I attended a friend’s church. I walked in and
made a decision that it would be my church from that
point. The sermon, music and other rites was like what I
experienced at my home church. The difference was the
environment. It appealed to my senses. It felt like I had
just noticed colour for the first time. The smiling faces, the
colourful people combined to produce a rush of dopamine.
I have attended the new church for a few weeks and the
novelty has worn off. But I still feel good when I’m around
these beautiful folks. In my former congregation, the
people looked good with no makeup and bland outfits.
Good just isn’t good enough.
This is no critic on religion and doctrines. But I learned
this: your choice of colour adds to how people feel around
Scientists have researched into the correlation between
colour and mood. Colour Psychologists show that colours
affect emotional reactions and influence perceptions.
Branding agencies take advantage of this knowledge.

colour leads to 62%-90% of a customer’s choice.

I’m not asking you to paint the city blue to reduce crime. I’m
not telling you to wear blue all day to avoid being a victim
of a criminal act. The point is colour influences
you and the people around you. The colour of the piece you
have on predetermines how people will treat you.

I know what you’re are thinking, What about Mark
Zuckerberg’s gray-tee and blue jeans. He seems to defy the
logic right? Nah. Grey represents elegance, humility,
respect, stability, neutrality, boredom and a lot more.
Maybe he did some research before settling for the colour.
Think about it.
Take your time. Don’t just throw something on. It’s easy,
you can search out these colours online and find out how
they influence perception. This will guide in piecing your
If you’re one of those who walk around with a lemon green
church banner over your outfits, stop it. Or know what
colours to combine it with. Better still wear matching pants
to complete the look. Ha ha.
Don’t play yourself.
